What is a canonical tag?
The <link rel="canonical"> tag tells search engines which URL is the master version when duplicates or near-duplicates exist. It consolidates ranking signals into one URL and prevents thin-content penalties.
How to use this tool
- Enter the preferred canonical URL (fully-qualified, https, no tracking params).
- Copy the generated tag.
- Paste it into your page's
<head>.
When to use canonical tags
- Product pages accessible via multiple filter/sort URLs.
- Print or AMP versions of the same page.
