    Canonical Tag Generator

    Generate a rel="canonical" tag to signal the preferred URL for duplicate or similar pages.

    HTML tag
    <link rel="canonical" href="https://example.com/page" />

    Drop this into the <head> of every page. Canonical and og:url should both self-reference the page itself.

    What is a canonical tag?

    The <link rel="canonical"> tag tells search engines which URL is the master version when duplicates or near-duplicates exist. It consolidates ranking signals into one URL and prevents thin-content penalties.

    How to use this tool

    1. Enter the preferred canonical URL (fully-qualified, https, no tracking params).
    2. Copy the generated tag.
    3. Paste it into your page's <head>.

    When to use canonical tags

    • Product pages accessible via multiple filter/sort URLs.
    • Print or AMP versions of the same page.
    • Syndicated content republished elsewhere (canonical points to original).
